American Dream 101 program (AD101)

The AD101 program was created to help young people make informed, practical life decisions. We believe if teens are informed, given accurate feedback, practiced in the decision making process and master basic life skills, they will have greater happiness and lead more successful lives.

There are three components to the AD101 program:

1.  AD101.com - Life simulation Internet game and;

2.  The Dialogues - Life skills Workshops and;

3.  Experience your Possibilities Workbook

Program Design

Each component of the program is designed as a stand-alone entity.

With our open-ended design, educators can customize the program components based on their students needs.  Each section of this program is an independent module or piece of information that need not connect in a linear way. Therefore, if you have any or all of the independent pieces, you can create a successful program.

Program Implementation

AD101 is designed as an interdisciplinary program for middle school and high school classes over a semester.

To facilitate the Workshops, you will be provided with a Curriculum, including Goals and Objectives, Lesson Plans, Tracking Tools, Workbook Assignments, and additional resources.

It is implemented over two 45-minute classroom periods each week.

  1. During the first period, students negotiate situations in the game that they encounter in real life, including progressing through high school, dealing with family life, working a part-time job, dating, applying to college, and many other situations.
  1. During the second classroom period, students will attend the life skills Workshop devoted to further exploring life situations and the important decisions they will often have to make in their lives.

Time permitting, they can also do exercises in the Workbook during this period, or Workbook exercises can be given as their homework assignment.
