American Dream 101 is designed as an interdisciplinary program for middle school and high school classes over a semester. Every element of the program is designed as a stand-alone entity. Therefore, if you have any or all of the independent pieces, you can create a successful program.

Our open-ended design allows you to use American Dream 101 to conduct lessons for:

Advisory Seminar:  All the elements of our program fit perfectly into however your schools Advisory is set up because the open-ended, flexible design and comprehensive, engaging materials can be adapted to both group or individual sessions with educators.

College Awareness: Your student can apply to, attend, pay for and even drop out of College with American Dream 101.  More importantly, they can experience the real world value of a college education once they enter the job market.

Character Education:  Each decision students make effect their Personality score.  As a result, they begin to understand the relationship between their actions (decisions) and how others view them.  Group play allows student to compete not only for who has the most money but also who is the most Honest or worst citizen.

Career Exploration:  One persons dream job is another person’s nightmare. With 64 different jobs (both part and full-time) students can experience the real life challenges of the world of work without having to leave the classroom.  Practical skills such as resume writing, filling out job applications and career education requirements and salary ranges are also included.

Life Skills Training:  We don’t teach teens about live skills.  Instead, we give students the opportunity to explore their current reality as well as their future possibilities based on thousands of their decisions in the game.  Then we use the Socratic method to allow teens to learn from one another and share their successes, failures and ideas.

Leadership Workshops:  Whether you believe leaders are born or created doesn’t matter if you are never given an opportunity to lead!  Therefore, our program materials offers teens many ways to exercise their leadership potential via the game, classroom discussions and outside community projects.

Money Management:  How many teens know what is involved in paying for College or how to use credit cards or invest in the stock market?  In American Dream 101 they get to experience taking out student loans, paying bills, using credit cards and even asking their boss for a raise!  Yet if they mess up here, they don’t have bad credit for the next 10 years.

English Language Learners (ELL):  The challenges of coming to a new country include understanding the differences in culture as well as offen learning a new language.   With the American Dream 101 program, ELL students get to experience American culture while they are learning how to read and make decisions in English. Because the language is presented in the context of everyday life, the students are more motivated to practice more (because it's fun!) and become English proficient sooner.

Suspension Centers: Our open-ended, self-paced, experience-based learning system is ideal for these centers because they help students realize which path their current decisions are leading them down and give them an opportunity to change.
